Personal Licence

What is a personal licence and what does it allow the holder to do?

A personal licence is issued to an individual by the licensing authority and is separate from the premises licence.

The licence comprises two parts: a plastic card including the name and photograph of the holder, and a paper section.

It allows the holder to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol in accordance with a valid premises licence.

Licensed premises may have more than one personal licence holder.
